ZETA plus C1

Well, it’s August in a blink of an eye. School’s starting next week much to my chagrin, but on the bright side EPL is making its comeback on the weekends and my birthday is this Friday!

I guess this year is kinda special and all, since it’s 08/08/08 and the start of the Olympics so I was wondering whether I should just try my hand at the special S$8 million TOTO draw on the very day.

Who knows, maybe I will have more luck on my birthday than usual ^^;

Wishful thinking aside, I finally completed my Zeta Plus C1 Gundam model that I bought 3 years ago. Hurray!! XD

spring anime season : start!

April 15, 2008 at 7:43 pm (anime, ramblings) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Now that another weekend is over and gone, it’s back to my lonely boring days at home in front of the computer. Singapore Pools hasn’t called me up ever since my training so I’ve decided to take the wait-and-see approach and be unemployed for the time being, at least until school starts next month.

Meanwhile, this break gives me a chance to just seat back and catch up on the latest season of anime which just started airing in Japan a week or so ago. I’m currently following up on a whole lot of brand new titles which I’ve not heard of for curiosity’s sake, but the most worth mentioning would be the two blockbusters which I’ve brought up before at the beginning of the year :

Macross Frontier

Macross Frontier

The latest iteration of the Macross franchise simply puts the recently concluded Gundam 00 to shame. Having top-class CG animation in addition to an excellent soundtrack done by the famous Yoko Kanno does not hurt either. I can’t say much about the plot with only 2 episodes aired so far, but the action seems to be coming along quite steadily with plenty of mecha action to boot.

Overall, it definitely meets my already high expectations set by the preview episode screened at the end of last year – the amount of quality it oozes in its production just sets it worlds apart from any of the other new series, with most likely the exception of..

Code Geass R2

Code Geass R2

It’s finally here!!!!!!!

Judging from my previous post, to say that I had high hopes for the second installment of Geass would be a gross understatement and I’m sure many other fans would feel the same way too. That said, I honestly felt a bit of a letdown when the credits of the first episode begin to roll last week.

The first season’s cliffhanger was left virtually unresolved and the plot played out like a rehash of the very first episode. It came across to me as slightly.. anti-climatic, especially so after impatiently waiting to see what happened to Lelouch and Suzaku’s epic showdown.

Episode 2 changed all of that however.

The gap was bridged. New mecha were rolled out. New factions & conspiracies abound. And last but not least, new Geass users! (I don’t think I spoiled anything did I? I tried my best ^^;) The action seems to be flying in thick and fast as if it was trying to make up for last week’s relatively laid-back attitude, while more questions are being fired about the plot than being answered at the moment. All these just leave viewers like myself craving for much much more XD

I think Mondays just can’t seem to come soon enough from now on ^^;

Code Geass : OMGWTFBBQ!!!

January 10, 2008 at 11:43 am (anime, ramblings, wow, wtf?) (, , )

Yup, that was what went through my mind when the ending credits of the series started rolling. Having finally finished the day’s work of mindless brain-numbing data-entry, the allure of some fine mecha action at the end of the day was too difficult to ignore.

And alas, disappoint me Code Geass did not – the final few episodes had an intensity unlike any other of its generic brethen. Plot twists were wild and unexpected while blood flowed by the spades – but nothing was as surprising as seeing how much of an asshole Lelouch had become. I won’t spoil anything for potential viewers, but I just can’t see what C.C. sees in him that makes her continue to stay around him after all that’s happened. Probably some contract thingie I guess, but I digress..

Anyway, enough of ranting. For those of you still wondering whether to take the plunge into the world of Geass or not, hesitate no further – you’d be taken on a hell of an emotional ride once you’ve reached the end of the final 2 combined episodes. And, when it does pull the rug out from under you when it ends, you’d be left clamoring for much much more. If you as so much call yourself even a decent mecha fan and have not touched this series yet, you deserve to be shot – yeah and I’d probably recommend it done by that poor bugger up there ^^;;

From what I’ve gathered so far, Season 2 starts in April 2008, alongside the excellent Macross Frontier if I’m not wrong.

3 more months.

I can’t wait.

code geass : addicted

Today, I had half a mind to finish the remaining 8 episodes of Code Geass : Lelouch of the Rebellion. On second thought, I would rather slowly savour the series while it lasts.

What can I say? Neat mecha designs, a twisted anti-hero with an out-of-this-world ability and a kick-ass soundtrack makes for an offering any decent anime fan cannot afford to refuse.

Speaking of the soundtrack, I totally dig ED2 – and thats why I’m sharing it ^^;;

p.s. youtube only though, the full version, though much nicer, was too much a hassle to upload lol
